After that in rstudio when trying to install from source with devtools rstudio ide do not find rtools and open a box to offer to download rtools even if i already have it. Allows the user to choose downloads and install the latest version of rtools for windows. Starting with r 4 0 0 released april 2020 r for windows uses a brand new toolchain bundle called rtools40.
Tested that rstudio version 1 3 is installing the correct rtools version when running r version r 4 0 in this case it was rtools40.
An easy one would be pkgbuild has build tools. When trying to use any devtools function i e load all that need rtools i get the message to download unless i use first. In addition to the latest gcc it now includes a full build system and package manager to build install and distribute external c c fortran libraries needed.
